Origins, the first decade was in Texas: Founder Paul Bacon was called of the Lord to relocate to Houston from Tulsa, OK in late 1997 with a specific mission to work with the Houston Promise Keepers Task Force and with local churches in the vicinity of the Johnson Space Center. As a result of experience gained while serving as Volunteer Coordinator for the 1998 Houston Promise Keepers Conference, Paul developed a circle of like-minded Christian men who saw a need to help pastors to build effective ministries to men in local churches in Houston. Over the next 10 years this group became the Bay Area Men’s Ministry Alliance and then, in 2002, incorporated as a Texas non-profit corporation, Texas Men of Impact (TMI), working with pastors and leaders in local churches as a field network ministry of the National Coalition of Ministries to Men (NCMM). During the 10 years of ministry in Houston. Paul Bacon and the TMI leadership team worked with dozens of local churches and partnered with national level ministries to help with large events and with evaluation and distribution of men’s discipleship resources.
2007 to the Present: Paul Bacon was once again called by God to relocate, this time to Kalispell, Montana. During the period from 2007 to 2010 Paul lived in Kalispell but worked in Seattle, finishing up his aerospace career with The Boeing Company. This itinerant arrangement made it difficult to grow a leadership team but allowed him to do research, pursue seminary education through Liberty University and to serve as an elder at a Washington church. Paul’s retirement from Boeing effective in January 2011 has allowed him to work full time in men’s discipleship, to build the AMI Leadership Team and develop a set of deep relationships with a number of NW Montana churches. Initially obtaining certification as a Coach and Trainer as a member of the John Maxwell Team Founder’s Circle, Paul accepted a position as an Area Director for Man In The Mirror Ministries. Subsequent experience and the counsel of the AMI Board of Directors led to a separation from the Area Director role with Man In The Mirror to pursue a full service ministry which would be able to pursue God’s unique planfor AMI independently.
Since 2013, AMI has been building Men’s Ministry Leaders in local churches who work closely under the headship of the Senior Pastor to develop a strategy to disciple the men of the church in alignment with the pastor’s vision for the church. We have also identified a cadre of highly motivated men who are being trained through the AMI Academy to become regional Men’s Ministry Specialists and Church Coaches.
